The Berber Marriage Festival and Market takes place every September in Imilchil, a small village deep within the Atlas range in Morocco. Here, young couples are married in a collective ceremony.

Traditionally, the ceremony has been held just after summer matching a rural market in which many people of the remote areas gather to sell and buy everything necessary to endure the hard winter.

It has been a practical and social solution for many generations to avoid the expensive trip to get married in the city. The authorities come from the city and a collective ceremony is held.

At the same time, many young berbers take advantage of the market to meet their future spouses. And the market is still a place to exchange goods and animals.
